"In a single day and night of misfortune, the island of Atlantis disappeared into the depths of the sea."
- Plato
Was Atlantis a real civilisation, and could its disappearance be linked to lost knowledge, ancient technology, or hidden history?
For centuries, Atlantis has sparked curiosity and debate, with some researchers suggesting it was more than just an advanced human society. Could it have been influenced or even founded by advanced beings, possibly extraterrestrial or an ancient race with superior knowledge?
Ancient texts and artifacts hint at technology far beyond its supposed time, including energy grids resembling Nikola Tesla’s theories, potential anti-gravity devices, and a profound understanding of cosmic principles. The Egyptian priest Solon, who recorded the story of Atlantis from Greek accounts, described it as a civilisation with remarkable engineering, canals, and an advanced knowledge of the stars. Some even point to strange megalithic structures around the world, like the pyramids and underwater ruins near Japan’s Yonaguni Monument, as evidence that highly developed knowledge may have existed long before recorded history.
The question of Atlantis’s disappearance remains one of history’s great mysteries. While some believe it was a mid-Atlantic continent swallowed by the ocean, geological studies have yet to confirm such an event. Others speculate that the Bermuda Triangle, an area infamous for ship and aircraft disappearances, may have played a role, citing unusual electromagnetic anomalies detected in the region. Meanwhile, historians consider real-world parallels, such as the destruction of the Minoan civilisation on Crete due to a massive volcanic eruption, as possible inspirations for the Atlantis myth.
However, an alternative theory suggests that Atlantis didn’t simply sink, it was deliberately erased. Some accounts from ancient cultures describe gods or powerful beings punishing civilisations that became too ambitious. Could Atlantis have been a victim of its own technological advancements, leading to a catastrophe that forced its knowledge into secrecy or extinction? Artifacts and historical accounts continue to fuel the mystery.
Some researchers point to the Bimini Road, a submerged rock formation off the coast of the Bahamas, as evidence of lost ancient architecture. Others reference the writings of Plato, who described Atlantis as a powerful empire that ultimately fell due to its own arrogance.
Additionally, ancient maps like the Piri Reis map, which accurately depict parts of Antarctica long before modern discovery, suggest that ancient civilisations had knowledge far beyond what history credits them for. If Atlantis was indeed influenced or even established by advanced beings, its disappearance raises more questions: Was its knowledge suppressed? Did its inhabitants leave Earth, taking their technology with them? Or was it a hybrid civilisation that existed alongside humans before vanishing?
Plato’s account of Atlantis, written around 360 BCE in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias, describes it as a powerful and technologically advanced civilisation that existed approximately 9,000 years before his time.
According to Plato, Atlantis was a vast island located “beyond the Pillars of Hercules” (now known as the Strait of Gibraltar), suggesting it lay somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. He depicted it as a utopian society with extraordinary engineering feats, including massive circular canals, grand temples, and an advanced irrigation system that sustained its flourishing agriculture. The city was said to be ruled by kings descended from the god Poseidon and was characterized by a strong military, a well-structured government, and a highly developed culture.
Meanwhile, descriptions of Atlanteans vary widely depending on the source, blending mythology, esoteric traditions, and speculative theories. According to Plato, they resemble the ancient Greeks in appearance, as they were said to be descendants of Poseidon and a mortal woman. They were depicted as strong, noble, and intelligent, living in a highly organized society with grand temples, palaces, and advanced architecture.
In esoteric and New Age traditions, Atlanteans are often described as possessing tall, ethereal, and almost godlike features. According to Helena Blavatsky, the founder of Theosophy, in her book The Secret Doctrine (1888) they were taller than modern humans, with radiant, luminous skin, sometimes depicted in shades of gold or blue, symbolizing their supposed advanced spiritual or technological evolution.
Edgar Cayce, a 20th-century psychic believe that Atlanteans were divided into different classes, with the priestly and ruling elite being more spiritually or technologically advanced, while the general population resembled early human civilisations. Ancient Astronaut Theory suggests that Atlanteans are extraterrestrial beings or hybrid species with elongated skulls, larger-than-average eyes, or even aquatic features like webbed hands, given their connection to the ocean.
Plato described Atlantis as growing increasingly corrupt, greedy, and power-hungry, which ultimately led to its downfall. As a divine punishment, the island was said to have been swallowed by the ocean in a single day and night of catastrophic earthquakes and floods (Timaeus, 24e–25d; Critias, 108e–121c).
While Plato remains the primary source for Atlantis, other historians and scholars have interpreted his account in different ways. Some, like the Greek geographer Strabo (64 BCE–24 CE), suggested that the Atlantis story may have been a historical allegory meant to warn against human arrogance and the dangers of imperial overreach (Geography, 2.3.6). Others, such as 19th-century scholar Ignatius Donnelly, took Plato’s account more literally and theorized that Atlantis was a real lost civilisation with highly advanced technology, possibly influencing later societies like the Egyptians and Mesoamericans (Atlantis: The Antediluvian World, 1882).
Modern researchers continue to debate whether Plato’s depiction was based on real events, such as the destruction of the Minoan civilisation on Crete due to the eruption of the Thera volcano around 1600 BCE, or if it was entirely a philosophical construct. Regardless, the description of Atlantis as a prosperous, advanced society that ultimately met a tragic end continues to captivate scholars and enthusiasts alike.
The connection between Atlantis, time travel, and the Akashic Records stems from esoteric traditions that suggest the Atlanteans possessed knowledge far beyond what is recorded in mainstream history. The Akashic Records, a concept found in Theosophy and other mystical teachings, are believed to be a metaphysical archive that contains all knowledge of past, present, and future events. Some researchers and spiritualists claim that the priests and scholars of Atlantis had access to this universal database, allowing them to foresee possible futures and even manipulate reality in ways we don't yet understand.
If Atlantis truly had mastery over time or inter-dimensional travel, it raises the possibility that its people didn’t perish in a cataclysmic event but instead shifted into another timeline or dimension. This idea is supported by anomalies in historical records, such as ancient maps that depict islands or landmasses that no longer exist, and accounts of entire civilizations seemingly disappearing overnight. David Wilcock, a modern new age researcher speculate that Atlantis might not have been destroyed in the traditional sense but instead moved beyond our perception either by design or as a result of its own experiments with time and energy.
Several underwater structures around the world have fueled speculation about Atlantis. Off the coast of Cuba, sonar scans revealed massive symmetrical stone formations at a depth of 2,200 feet, which some researchers, like Paulina Zelitsky, believe could be the remains of an ancient city. Similarly, the Bimini Road in the Bahamas, discovered in 1968, features large rectangular limestone blocks that some interpret as a man-made roadway, though mainstream geologists argue it is a natural beachrock formation. In Japan, the Yonaguni Monument, a massive underwater rock structure with terraces and sharp angles, has been studied by Dr. Masaaki Kimura, who believes it is a sunken city, while other scientists maintain it is naturally eroded sandstone.
Despite these discoveries, mainstream academia remains cautious, often attributing these formations to natural geological processes rather than lost civilisations. The lack of definitive artifacts, such as inscriptions or human remains, makes it difficult to confirm whether they are evidence of Atlantis or other advanced societies. While alternative researchers argue that these sites hint at suppressed history, scientific consensus demands stronger evidence. The debate continues, leaving room for both skepticism and curiosity in the search for lost worlds.
Whether Atlantis was a real place lost to history, a metaphor for human ambition and downfall, or something far more complex, its legacy continues to inspire questions about our past, our origins, and the hidden possibilities of human civilisation. In the end, the truth about Atlantis may not lie in a single explanation but in the collective search for knowledge. It is up to us to decide what we believe.
What do you think happened to Atlantis? Do you believe its knowledge is still influencing our world today?
Advancements in satellite imaging, underwater archaeology, and geological surveys have brought new attention to the possibility of Atlantis. Researchers have identified submerged structures off the coasts of Spain and the Bahamas that resemble ancient city layouts, while deep-sea mapping has revealed unusual formations in the Atlantic Ocean that some claim align with Plato’s descriptions. Additionally, genetic studies of ancient human populations suggest unexplained migrations and lost civilizations that could be linked to a forgotten past. While mainstream science remains skeptical, these discoveries continue to fuel debate, keeping the mystery of Atlantis alive in modern research.
The documentary examines various theories about Atlantis's existence and location, including the possibility that it was a mid-Atlantic continent that suddenly sank into the ocean, or that it was swallowed up by the Bermuda Triangle. It also explores the notion that the Atlantis legend may have been inspired by real historical events, such as the destruction of the Minoan civilization on the Greek island of Crete. Throughout, the film seeks to uncover the truth behind this legendary lost world, questioning whether Atlantis was merely a myth or a real civilization lost to history.
Researcher Jimmy Corsetti presents a theory that the Lost City of Atlantis was located in the Eye of the Sahara, also known as the Richat Structure in Mauritania. He highlights striking similarities between Plato’s descriptions of Atlantis and the site's unique circular formations, size, and geological features. Corsetti suggests that ancient cataclysms, such as massive floods or shifting landscapes, may have buried the once-thriving civilization. His theory challenges mainstream archaeology, proposing that Atlantis may have been a real place rather than just myth.
The documentary explores the mystery of Atlantis, was it a real civilization or just a cautionary tale by Plato? If it existed, how could a powerful maritime empire vanish overnight? With no records beyond Plato’s writings, researchers have searched worldwide, from Morocco to Indonesia and the Mediterranean to the Sahara, seeking evidence. While many dismiss Atlantis as fiction, others believe its story may reveal lost history with profound implications for humanity.
The Children of Light are a mythical Civilization introduced by Maurice Doreal in his book The Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean. Mainstream academics and archaeologists generally regard Doreal’s work as fiction, similar to how claims about the Angel Moroni in Mormonism are seen by many outside the faith. However, the concept of the Children of Light offers intriguing parallels to modern Scientific theories and Spiritual beliefs. Increasing Scientific research suggests that humans are, at a fundamental level, made of Plasma - the fourth state of matter. This idea resonates with Spiritual teachings that describe humans as light beings in material form, destined to return to our pure, Spiritual essence of light upon death. Robert Temple's "Science of Heaven" explores the concept of humanity’s connection to light and Energy, drawing parallels between ancient Spiritual wisdom and modern Physics. Notably, physicists such as Nikola Tesla and David Bohm have also suggested that light, Energy, and Consciousness are intimately connected, aligning with the notion that humans may be beings of light. While the narrative of the Children of Light reads like a blend of allegory and science fiction, it mixes elements of truth with imagination, sparking deep reflection on the nature of our existence.
