The True Age of the Earth?

Modern Science estimates that the Earth is approximately 4.54 billion years old, a number determined through radiometric dating of ancient rocks and meteorites. This method measures the decay of radioactive isotopes in minerals, providing a timeline that extends far beyond known human history. Even using simple logic dictates that if our own modern civilisation is only 2,000 years old, then we have only existed for 0.0000004% of earth's history. That is a lot of time in which many prior Civilisations could have simply come and gone, wiped off the face off the earth through multiple cataclysms. This is not unimaginable when geological records tell a story of massive shifts, continental drifts, ice ages, asteroid impacts, and extinction level events that have reshaped the planet time and time again.

As geological and archaeological technologies continue to improve, we are beginning to uncover signs or potential evidence of Antediluvian Civilisationsn, inviting us to reassess the possibilities, as these anomalies arise. Whether it's fossilized human-like footprints beside dinosaur tracks, inexplicable metal artifacts embedded in coal seams millions of years old, or ancient maps detailing an ice-free Antarctica. They all suggest that human history may stretch back much further than we are led to believe.

Either way, the Younger Dryas period is a recognised event, occurring around 12,800 years ago, was a sudden and intense return to glacial conditions after a period of warming. Some scientists propose that this abrupt shift was triggered by a comet or asteroid impact, an event that could have devastated early human settlements and drastically reshaped the planet.

Supporters of the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis argue that a fragmented comet struck North America, Europe, and parts of the Middle East, causing widespread wildfires, abrupt climate cooling, and massive flooding due to glacial meltwater. The resulting environmental chaos may have been recorded in myths and oral traditions as divine punishment or celestial wrath.

Nearly every culture on Earth has a story of the cataclysmic flood that followed wiping out a known advanced civilisation that existed before the flood. If the Younger Dryas impact did occur, it could explain why so many cultures preserved these narratives of a lost golden age followed by destruction and rebirth of another Civilisation. So who were these Civilisations who recorded narratives of a great flood?

Many ancient Civilisations have a myth or story of how their world began after a cataclysmic destruction. Despite all these stories being separated by both time and geography, they often share striking similarities, particularly the theme of a Great Flood or and cosmic catastrophe wiping out an advanced advanced Antediluvian society. Below is a brief list of just some of these myths and stories from different ancient Civilisations across the world: 

• Sumerian and Biblical Flood Myths – The Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh describes Utnapishtim, a man warned by the gods to build a massive boat to survive a coming flood. This tale closely parallels the biblical story of Noah, in which God commands Noah to construct an ark to preserve life before a divine deluge eradicates a corrupted world.

• Hindu Mythology (The Story of Manu) – In ancient Hindu texts, Manu, the first man, is warned by a great fish (often identified as Vishnu) about an impending flood. He builds a massive boat and survives, later repopulating the world. This flood myth is recorded in the Matsya Purana and shares echoes of similar deluge myths from other cultures.

• Greek Mythology (Deucalion and Pyrrha) – According to Greek myths, the Titan Prometheus warned his son Deucalion of an approaching flood sent by Zeus to cleanse humanity. Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha built a chest to survive the waters, eventually repopulating the earth by throwing stones over their shoulders, which turned into humans.

• Mayan and Aztec Flood Stories – The Popol Vuh, a sacred text of the Maya, describes multiple creations and destructions of the world, including a great flood that wiped out an earlier race of wooden people. The Aztecs also had myths of cyclical destructions, including a great flood that reset civilization.

• Norse Ragnarok – Unlike flood myths, Norse mythology tells of Ragnarok, a great battle and apocalypse where fire and ice destroy the world, only for it to be reborn anew. This cycle of destruction and rebirth mirrors the idea of civilisations lost and rediscovered.

• Chinese Flood Myth (Gun-Yu) – In ancient Chinese legend, Emperor Yao faced a catastrophic flood that lasted for generations. The hero Yu the Great eventually controlled the waters, saving China and laying the foundation for its early Civilisation.

Noah’s Ark: Echoes from a Drowned World

The most famous mythology of the Great Flood come from the Christian Bible's Book of Genesis, about Noah who builds an ark and rides out forty days of relentless rain. The ark comes to rest on Mount Ararat, the highest mountain in eastern Turkey, which has long been entwined with legend.

In 1959, a Turkish pilot photographed a boat-shaped formation near Ararat - now called the Durupınar Site. Some believe it could be the petrified remains of Noah’s Ark; others call it natural geology. Meanwhile, satellite scans hint at buried structures under Ararat’s icy peaks - unconfirmed, but haunting.

An alternative theory points to the Black Sea Deluge Hypothesis. Around 7,500 years ago, rising seas breached the Bosporus, flooding a massive freshwater lake. Submerged villages and ancient shorelines have since been found beneath the Black Sea.

Were they remnants of Atlantis, Lemuria, or Hyperborea? Were they divine, extra-terrestrial, or simply sages of a forgotten world? The stories do not always agree. But what persists across continents and cultures is their number - Seven - and their purpose: to revive what was lost, to teach what had been forgotten, and to prepare humanity for the long journey ahead.
